Announcing Functions Vault: A Secure Secret Store

Today, we are excited to introduce Functions Vault: a secure store in our network for your secrets, such as authentication keys or tokens, allowing you to save sensitive information securely.

Why Do You Need Vault?

Software components frequently authenticate their identity in order to talk to other components using API credentials and username/password pairs. It’s imperative that this type of critical information is kept safe from prying eyes.

Vault is a secret store that allows users to store their secrets in an encrypted fashion only to be decrypted when they need to be used, preventing even PubNub from accessing the actual values of these secrets.

What can Vault do for you?

Everything inside your Vault is securely stored including:

• API Keys
• Usernames & Passwords
• Encryption Keys

You can use our PubNub Admin Dashboard to store or remove your keys, and then securely and privately access them from within your Functions.
